Dog school Online Dog Training 101

The Online Dog Training 101 course teaches pet dog owners a step by step system for teaching basic obedience and manners. The online course uses world class course management software to present the same information I teach with in-home training. What this means is that you get my dog training program delivered right into your house without ever leaving to attend group training classes. The course includes programmed teaching modules built around 30 years of dog training, dog training videos, and additional premium features.

Those who want to train with distraction in a group setting can get friends and neighbors to join the Online Training course. When friends and neighbor train together dog training is more than getting the dog to behave, it becomes a social event. Social dog training not only strengthens the bonds between human and pet, but also between people.

Online Dog Training Fits Your Busy Schedule

My online Dog Training School will teach you how to manage your dog’s behavior with an easy to follow, human friendly training program. The biggest dog training obstacle people face is that they just don’t have enough extra time. Following a proven training program can significantly cut the overall time it takes to train your dog, perhaps as much as by half. Online training combined with face to face training can make the time it takes to learn and implement new training techniques even faster. Online dog training is ideal if you are one of the many busy people who have very little extra time to spend taking your dog to weekly dog training classes. However you still need to put time into actually training the dog. Ideally you will spend a little time every day doing both formal and informal training. One of the nice things about online dog training is that you can learn and practice at your own pace.

My Online Dog School Uses Programmed Learning

Online Dog Training 101 courses cover beginning dog training exercises and drills. The online Dog School courses deliver my in-home dog training to you using a programmed structure of teaching and learning. Many reward dog trainers might even call this scientific teaching because it’s based on the teaching model developed by B.F. Skinner. Programmed learning involved a series of pages or frames comprised of some information and one or more questions. Most of this course is made up of a series of questions comprised of text, photos, graphics, and video. This course is designed primarily for dog handlers who do not have a great deal of dog training experience.

My Dog School's Style of Dog Training

My Dog School uses a fusion of reinforcement and traditional dog training styles. Think of it as reward training with a slip collar (choke collar, correction collar). Over the years I have found this style of reward training quite effective. While the training relies a lot on rewards it also uses corrections and the leash and collar. Leash and collar training is often associated with traditional dog training and food rewards with reinforcement training. Many people I talk with say they want to train with all positive reinforcement but they have a very difficult time following an all positive program. I will be doing an all positive online training program in the near future. Building a new course takes from 100 to 400 hours of construction time per one hour of course time. The orientation for both courses will be almost the same. The orientation is the most important part of the program. It sets the foundation you will use for everything else you do in the course.

Who is Online Dog Training For?

All the online programs in the Dog Training 101 series are ideal for novice dog handler/owners. Even those who are having a hard time getting an average rambunctious dog under control. Novice dog handlers/owners are those with little dog training experience. Years of helping others with control out of control dogs has taught me that most people who’ve only done a relaxed form of pet training with a dog or two are usually novice handlers.

The Dog Training 101 series can also be quite helpful for those who have done group dog training classes. Many people find that large group classes, as wells as those with inexperienced instructors lack detailed step by step instruction. This is especially true if you have either attended a very large group class such as through the parks department or one of the smaller classes at a big pet mart type of chain pet store.

Basic Online Dog Training 101 is not meant for experienced dog handlers who are already skilled at doing basic obedience training. With perhaps the exception of experienced handlers who are new dog obedience instructors. For new dog training instructor there is more to learn from how the information is presented than from the basic exercise themselves.

Online Dog Training commands

The exercises taught in the Online Dog Training 101 courses develop important foundation skills for problem solving. While the exercises taught in the Online Dog Training courses are used to solve problem behavior, not all courses in this series are problem solving courses. However, mastering basic drills and behaviors is often a very important element to solving behavior problems. If you practice the drills and exercises in any of my Online Dog Training 101 obedience training courses you will become a better and more efficient dog handler. Handling your dog more efficiently will also make your dog behaved better.

Dog Problems and Online Dog Training

If your dog has any behavior problems I recommend a Standard Online Dog Training 101 or Premium Online Dog Training 101 program. Both the standard and the Premium courses include phone consultation and online support. The standard and the Premium courses are helpful for all problems except severe aggression and sometime separation anxiety. If you have question as to whether your dog will benefit from these course call for a brief phone evaluation before enrolling.

My courses do provide useful information for controlling aggressive dogs. However I recommend those with severely aggressive dogs work face to face with an experienced dog trainer.
