Dogs,
seems to be a very useful book to help piece together the intricate puzzle
of how the dominant canines of the world came to be. By understanding
the origins of the dog we can better understand the origin of their behavior
and their special place in the world.
I have not quite finished reading this book, however
so far it seems to be one of the better books I've read about how of our
favorite four legged friends came to be.
After spending a month watching the street dogs
in Taiwan, I noticed that feral dogs did not act the way many books said
they should. I kept thinking, "hey these dogs haven't read the same
books as me".
After getting back to the states I started reading
this book and was pleasantly surprised by the insight these authors have
acquired in their pursuit to understand the mysteries of dog behavior.
So far, I would highly recommend this book to those who
would like to better understand why dogs do the things they do.
If you would like to learn how to be able to understand
dogs when they haven't read the same books as you, try reading Konrad
Lorenz.
