About

101-Dog-Training-Tips.com is a part of the RenChenZa learning network.

This site is about the dynamic balance of both hard and soft styles of dog training with an emphasis on what works. At least what I have found to work for the most people in the most situations.

There are three main brands represented on this website

  1. The first is Concepts In Dog Behavior® this is the brand that I publish under and the logo represents well the nature of this sites and the foundation of my training. Even my softest training style is represented in Concepts In Dog Behavior®.

The Yin Yang of human and dog, wrapped within the context of emotion

  2. The second brand is Adaptive Dog Training® and this is the brand we train under. Day to day dog training operations are handled under this brand.

  3. The third brand is RenChenZa®. The RenChenZa® brand influences and guides all other brands. All our sites will be cobranded as part of the RenChenZa® Learning Network. The RenChenZa® brand will include more than information about dogs. It will also include information about all areas of human endeavor. The RenChenZa® mission statement is quite broad, and is based on making the world a better place thought the human dog experience. Some of the RenChenZa® goals are to improve the lives of people, animals, and the environments. The foundations of RenChenZa® are based on change and acceptance. While the 101-Dog-Training-Tips.com site does not emphasize the RenChenZa® concepts they are an underlying influence. The RenChenZa® logo represents the seven principles that lead towards personal growth and understanding.

101-Dog-Training-Tips.com uses a proven system that has been refined over many years. While I like using positive reinforcement this site is geared toward a mix of positive reinforcement and tradition dog training. I do have all positive dog training programs and look forward to offering them in the near future. However, I have found that when people pay me to help, I need to use people friendly training to get the needed results. People friendly usually means using at least some negative reinforcement.

Many of my professional colleagues, especially those in the behavior analysis group, may notice that I use some methods that are going out of style. While I advocate using positive reinforcement I also use the leash and training collar. I do agree with these colleagues that we need to move away from punishment based systems of behavioral control. Society is not there yet. It may take hundreds of year or a nuclear war before we reach that state. However, modern cultures are moving in that direction. I think we can all be a part of that movement. And dog owners can lead the way.

Wishing you the best in dog training and in life,
